Industrial Research | Entering Tianjin Machine Tool Museum
Tianjin, a city with rich historical deposits, is not only charming in its western-style buildings, but also in its long history of industrial development, enjoying the reputation of ＂cradle of national industry in North China＂.On the afternoon of July 28, 2023, about 30 recent graduates and some senior employees of Santroll, led by Chairman Kong, walked into the Tianjin Machine Tool Museum to learn the stories of machine tools and explore the history of industrial development.Tianjin Machine Tool Museum is the first private public welfare museum in Tianjin. Director Wang has been associated with machinery since childhood. After more than 20 years of effort, he has collected over 300 machine tools of various sizes, as well as over 500 civilian machinery collections. All of them are ＂treasures＂ with a history of decades or even hundreds of years, all well preserved and rare.Machine tools are essential basic equipment in the manufacturing industry, the ＂industrial mother machine＂ in the mechanical field，and the witness of Tianjin's industrial growth history. A profound sense of history comes, while walking into the museum.Under the guidance of Director Wang, we witnessed a variety of machine tools, including imported machine tools from Germany, Switzerland, the Soviet Union, the United Kingdom, and many other countries. Among them are also our Chinese made products, such as the milling machines used in the early days of Tianjin Seagull Watch Company and the machine tools that produced the wheels of the Oriental Red Train. They are all participants and witnesses of the times.This German ＂Heidelberg＂ printing press was produced in 1960, 110 years after the brand was founded in 1850. Chairman Kong enthusiastically explained the working principle of the printing press, and everyone came forward to listen with fascination.Without the roaring sensation, these machines with attractive metallic luster still exude a fresh and vivid breath of life. They talk to us in silent language, tell us various stories, witness the changes of the times, and make us feel like crossing a tunnel of time and space, touching and experiencing the pure and grant beauty of industry.Mechanical enthusiasts couldn't help but step forward and touch the texture of the machine tool closely, study its working principles, and feel the ＂craftsman spirit＂ of that era's pursuit of perfection.Manufacturing is an eternal industry. China is currently the world's largest manufacturing country, the only country with all industrial categories in the United Nations industrial classification, and also the country with the highest number of engineers. The development of traditional manufacturing industry today requires transformation and upgrading, and modernization goals such as Industry 4.0 and intelligent manufacturing require continuous learning of new knowledge.At the end of the visit, Chairman Kong combined his own and Manager Zhao's learning and growth experiences to share with new employees the experience and knowledge of how to learn efficiently.The law of ten thousand hours.
